The “Mini Guide” series provides instructions for simple tasks the author frequently forgets how to do.

Goal: Block an artist on the Spotify mobile app

System requirements

  • iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple TV
  • Spotify app (Apple)
Repeating pattern of mobile phones with different Spotify pages

Instructions

1. Go to an artist’s page.

I’m using Chris Brown as an example.

2. Click the ellipses (“…”).

The “…” button brings up a menu with more options to interact with the artist page.

3. In the pop-up menu, click “Don’t play this artist”.

Spotify provides a notification at the bottom of the page: “Ok, we won’t play music from this artist again.”

The page now has a “no” symbol instead of a “Follow” button under the artist’s name.
